I had the amazing honor of capturing the wedding of Dominica and Zach at the Lodge on Geneva at the lake.  The people who played a part in this wedding were no less than the superstars of our Cleveland wedding industry.  Happy to have worked beside all of them to make this incredible wedding come to life.

Zach and I met at on the first day of fall semester at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2011, where we were both doctoral students in the Chemistry graduate program. It would be romantic to say that that was when we realized that we were soul mates, but we did not! Zach is outgoing and social, and I am more introverted and studious, and on the surface it appears that we cannot be more different.

Throughout that first year of graduate school, we would go to the same classes, parties and social events, but our friendship did not take a turning point until a casual conversation between us when I told him that I was feeling particularly stressed that day. Zach asked if I would go for a car ride with him to cheer up, and so we did. He drove me around Chapel Hill with the windows down, singing to Tom Petty, only he changed all the words “girl” and “American” to “Domz” and “Canadian” (my nickname and nationality).

From that point on, we hung out more frequently, and eventually started dating in 2013. We realized that we had a lot more in common then we thought: we love to try new recipes, watch episodes of the Office, and crack up to the same dirty humor. Zach proposed one morning in our apartment in February 2015, where he woke me up early in the morning and surprised me with blueberry pancakes, a bouquet of roses, and my favorite latte from Starbucks. I was in my pajamas, with no make up, hair uncombed and teeth unbrushed, but Zach insists that he loves the way that I look in the mornings, and that he can’t imagine waking up next to anyone else for the rest of his life. It was a wonderfully low-key proposal, reminding us everyday that we don’t need to dress up or a fancy location to show how much we love each other.
